At Skea Egg Farms Ltd, based in Dungannon in County Tyrone, we are a family-owned company supplying a range of quality eggs to major retailers across Northern Ireland and mainland Great Britain.
Matthew Hayes founded the business in the early 1970s. What started as a small family-run business has grown to become a leading supplier of eggs with more than 130 employees.
In April 2022, the Ready Egg Group acquired Skea Egg Farms Ltd. The acquisition of Skea Egg Farms Ltd has allowed for further diversification in the group, cementing its position as a leading player in the market.
We are looking forward to building on the success of two local, family run businesses with the synergies, values and decades of combined experience of the teams ensuring the future success of the business.
We are proud to supply leading UK supermarkets with over 13.5 million eggs per week, all produced here in Northern Ireland by local farmers. All the farms are British Egg Industry Council (BEIC), RSPCA approved and organically approved where relevant. We are committed to some of the highest standards of egg production in the world.
We work closely with all our farmers to ensure we produce a high quality, welfare friendly, commercially viable and fully traceable product that is Lion Quality marked, ensuring the highest standards of food hygiene and safety.
As a big customer of local farmers, Skea Eggs not only helps in sustaining the local economy but enhances Northern Ireland’s reputation as a leading, high quality food producer.
We are also proud to support other local industry. All our egg packs are supplied by Huhtamaki and the feed for our 3 million birds is manufactured by Fane Valley Feeds, John Thompson and Sons, and Gortavoy Feeds in Northern Ireland, reducing food miles and environmental impact. Sustainability is important to us at Skea Eggs, and 30% of our energy now comes from renewable resources, including wind, solar and biomass.
